Abstract

The municipal decree nº. 57.570/2016 defines accumulation situations as the excessive presence of objects, waste, or animals in an environment, with risks to individual and collective health. These situations are often associated with mental disorders and require an integrated intersectoral approach, involving different municipal services. This case study aims to disseminate the experience of intersectorality in addressing a case of accumulation with the patient M.M.P, an 88-year-old female. The introduction of a home garden as a therapeutic strategy was effective not only for improving the environment and the patient’s diet but also for psychosocial rehabilitation. The methodology included the participation of various services such as Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS), subprefecture,
Municipal Authority of Urban Cleaning (AMLURB), health surveillance, and basic health units, promoting a multiprofessional approach and the creation of a singular therapeutic project. Results showed significant improvement in the patient’s mental health and quality of life, by eliminating accumulation and promoting healthy eating.
