The maintenance of hospital equipment can be challenging when necessary parts are unavailable on the market, especially for obsolete equipment. The Hospital Estadual de Sapopemba implemented 3D printing technology as an innovative solution to produce on-demand parts for their equipment, such as trachea supports for ventilators. This strategy not only solved maintenance issues but also generated significant cost savings. Between 2022 and 2023, 25 trachea support pieces were produced, saving up to R$61,075 and contributing to the reduction of ventilator-associated pneumonia in the intensive care unit. The investment in 3D printing was only R$1,425 compared to R$62,500 for the purchase of new parts.
